FAQs

Do I have to be a member of KSTA to present?
KSTA policy states that all presenters must be members of the organization.

Do I have to register for the entire conference?
If you indicate your preference for a Saturday only session, then you may register for the Saturday Only option. *Remember this is only a preference you indicate on the proposal form and is not guaranteed until your session slot is confirmed. If you plan to attend Friday but are not presenting that day, you need to register for the full conference.

What is the deadline for submitting a session proposal?
Proposals for the 2024 conference must be submitted by July 31, 2024.

What information is required on the Presenter Proposal Form?
Primary and other presenter contact information
Session title, audience/grade level, content areas

Must upload a session abstract limited to 200 words as a Word document

Is it possible for exhibitors to present sessions?
Platinum and Gold Level Sponsors includes one or more time slots in the program. Exhibitors should complete the Exhibitor Session Proposal form (not the one linked above).

How many times will I be scheduled to present my session?
Generally, sessions are scheduled for a single slot, but several can be repeated if they appear to have broad interest and the program has available spaces. You can indicate your preference on the session proposal form.

Can I request a certain day or time for my presentation?
Scheduling sessions can be complicated as we try to offer something in each time block for a variety of grade levels, science disciplines, and conference subject strands. However, requests for a particular day can usually be honored if they come in early enough. You can indicate your preference on the session proposal form. All conference sessions are 75 minutes in length.

Will KSTA provide a laptop, projector, screen, or other equipment?
Projectors, screens, and sound equipment will be provided in each meeting room. KSTA is not able to provide laptops. We encourage all presenters to take care in preparing for their session by bringing whatever equipment they think they might need.

Can I partner with someone else to present?
Some of the most effective sessions are those that involve multiple presenters. One person should be designated as the primary contact for conference communications. You can add co-presenters and specify the primary contact on the session proposal form. NOTE: ALL session presenters, including co-presenters, must be registered for the conference.

Can KSTA help to distribute copies of my handouts or other materials?
Presenters are responsible for making their own copies for handouts. KSTA will create a Google Drive folder for presenters to share their materials with attendees.
